The First "Canvas" — A Family Photo Album
Ihor’s creative journey began with daring experiments. As the child of an artist, he did not limit himself to clean sheets of paper: walls, book covers, and even photographs from the family archive were used. Instead of punishments, his parents gave him freedom, which laid the foundation for his bold and uncompromising style.
A Caricaturist's Secret Weapon
Before engaging in monumental art, Ihor Tushyn gained recognition as a sharp-tongued and sharp-penned caricaturist. His works on the topics of politics, sports, and ecology participated in international competitions. The main motto of that period: “Making a person laugh is much more difficult than making them cry.” This experience taught him to see a hidden metaphor in every detail of the surrounding world.
"Chaplin" Against Professionals
At his first city exhibition “Autumn Palette”, Igor presented the painting “Chaplin”. Despite the fact that 36 certified masters with years of experience participated in the exposition, Tushyn’s work was officially recognized by the organizers as the best painting of the entire exhibition, which served as a powerful stimulus for his further growth.
Watercolor as a Blueprint for Eternity
Despite many years of working with heavy structures, Ihor still considers watercolor to be his most complex and favorite tool. For him, it is not just a technique, but a source of endless inspiration: even the most monumental concrete sculptures and complex park objects are initially born as delicate, airy watercolor sketches.
Carving on Raw Stone
Working with art concrete requires not only artistic intuition, but also iron discipline. Tushyn’s technique is “live” carving on raw material. The process tolerates no delays: the artist has only a short window of time while the concrete retains its plasticity to manage to turn the gray mass into a detailed sculpture with a unique texture.
Creator of the "Troll Village"
Inspired by Viking history and Northern folklore during his life in Poland, Ihor began creating entire thematic worlds. One of his iconic projects is “The Fairytale House for the Troll Village”. Each such object begins with a legend: the artist first devises the character of the house’s “master”, and only then erects walls that ideally fit his mythical image.
Philosophy of Continuous Upgrade
Ihor Tushyn calls self-education his “lifelong strategy”. In the 90s, he took private lessons from old masters to master the academic base, and today he continues to study new chemical compositions of concrete and modern pigments, proving that an artist is an eternal student.
Return to Oil After 13 Years of Silence
A new stage in the master’s evolution in 2025–2026 was a triumphant return to easel painting. After a 13-year break from working with oil paints, Ihor Tushyn created a powerful and mystical “Medieval Collection”. It consists of three iconic images featuring figures of knights and an acrylic Jester (the embodiment of the Major Arcana Tarot card “The Fool”). These works explore the theme of human’s boundless capabilities, the psychology of choice, and the inner strength activated when the decision to act has already been made.
Charitable Triumph at Hilton Warsaw
In the spring of 2025, Igor was an invited guest and participant in the prestigious “Artshow” gathering of artists held at the Hilton Hotel in Warsaw. It was there that his iconic painting “The Green Knight” — a canvas revealing human laziness and the speed of decision-making through the allegory of knighthood — was sold at a charity auction. All proceeds from the sale were directed to help a support foundation for people in a coma. This sale marked the artist’s first significant commercial and humanitarian success in the oil technique over the last two years.
