Jurate Labanauskiene: Freedom of Creativity and the Power of Inspiration

We present to your attention Jurate Labanauskiene — an extraordinary personality whose life and work are full of amazing facets. She doesn't just paint pictures; she "sculpts" them, reinterpreting and bringing to life ideas from seemingly unnecessary things. Her journey in art, which began with embroidery and transformed into the unique styles of Junk Art, Scrap Art, and Steampunk, reflects her deep emotionality and freedom from conventions. In addition to her artistic endeavors, Jurate is a successful entrepreneur who created the world's first championship for crystal inlay, and also the founder of a family business built on strong relationships with people. In this article, we will delve into Jurate's world, learning about her inspiration, philosophy, and the facts that make her truly unique.

Freedom from Academic Frameworks

Jurate did not attend art school and is sincerely glad about it. Her creativity is free from academic constraints; it is guided by her heart, intuition, and an innate sense of color, texture, and form.

Early Creative Journey and First Exhibition

Jurate’s path in art began as a cross-stitch embroiderer. In 2009, she exhibited her embroidered works at the House of Culture in Rumšiškės and Pravieniškės at her first solo exhibition.

Revival and Unique Styles of Junk Art, Scrap Art, and Steampunk

After a break in her creative activity, in 2016, Jurate felt a strong desire to create something different and unconventional. This led to the birth of her unique paintings, which she categorizes as Junk Art, Scrap Art, and Steampunk, creating them from “unnecessary, unused – waste, objects.”

"Sculpting" Paintings, Not Just Painting

Jurate doesn’t follow traditional painting canons. She “sculpts” her paintings, approaching the process with deep emotion and inspiration. Instead of chasing quantity, she allows her works to mature, like a birth, and only when they are ready does she present them to the world.

Art Without Commission

Jurate’s paintings are not created on commission. She creates freely, and then her works find their owners at exhibitions and in galleries. Hundreds of created and sold paintings attest to the demand for her unique approach.

From Miniatures to Large-Scale Art

For almost twenty years, Jurate devoted herself to creating miniature nail art designs. This experience served as a subtle introduction to more large-scale art, teaching her to value every detail, line, and color.

Founder of Crystal Inlay Art — the World's Only Crystal Inlay Championship

Jurate is the ideological inspirer and creator of the unique Crystal Inlay Art championship, aimed at nail technicians. This competition demonstrates the incredible complexity and mastery of crystal inlay, where every minute detail matters, and the final result must look flawless.

Jurate’s brand, Majestic Professional Nail System, is more than just a business. It’s a family enterprise built on strong, warm relationships within the team and with clients, which creates a powerful and cohesive community.

Vibrancy in Everything

Jurate’s red curly hair is not just a color, but a reflection of her free, fiery, and a little “crazy” character. This same vibrant approach is evident in her love for green, which is her favorite color. Despite her red hair, she boldly wears green and knows how to combine even the “incompatible” colors, shapes, and ideas, finding true beauty in this and demonstrating her uniqueness.

Seven Dogs and a Dream of a Shelter

For Jurate, her seven dogs are not just pets but true family members. Her heart calls her to help homeless animals, and she dreams of opening her own shelter.

Inspiration in the Embrace of Nature

Jurate lives surrounded by nature, which serves as a source not only of peace but also of daily inspiration for life and creativity.

"I Plant Vegetables, But Don't Care for Them"

This unusual hobby reminds her that not everything in life needs to be controlled, and beauty can emerge on its own.

Journey Between Sunny Spain and Melancholy Lithuania

Ten years of living in Spain significantly broadened Jurate’s worldview, enriched her cultural experience, and helped her find her unique path in art and life. Paradoxically, perhaps it was her love for the melancholy and inspiration inherent in rainy and cloudy weather that became one of the reasons she left sunny Spain and returned to Lithuania.

Creative Family

Jurate is surrounded by a creative family: her husband is a builder with the soul of an artist, one daughter practices epoxy art, another digital art, and her son-in-law is a photographer. Each of them contributes to the atmosphere of creativity in their home.

Perseverance and Persistence

Stubbornness and persistence are Jurate’s strong points, which help her achieve her goals in both life and art.

Jurate Labanauskiene is a vivid example of how passion, perseverance, and freedom from conventions can lead to the creation of a truly unique path in art and entrepreneurship. Her ability to "sculpt" paintings from waste, create world championships, and build a business on human relationships reflects her deep individuality. Jurate's life, filled with inspiration from nature, the vibrant contrasts of her Spanish experience and Lithuanian melancholy, love for animals, and a creative family, demonstrates that true beauty is born from the courage to be oneself. She is not just a creator but also a source of inspiration, proving that one can achieve incredible heights by following the call of one's heart.
